Sci Fi Channel has released promos for the second half of Season 4, and it features a lovely shot of Carson! Beware of spoilers, but you can view the promos here at YouTube. Carson doesn’t appear until the very end. They are saving the best for last!

My belief is that Carson is being used by Michael to work on the retrovirus and those monsters he created in vengeance.
Joe Mallozzie gave a clue as to what happened to Carson and he said in his blog that the clue is at the very end of one of the last three episodes of Season 3.
I watched these carefully and found the clue (or what I believe to be the clue) in ‘Vengeance”
Teylah has a dialogue with Elizabeth about Michael’s work, about how it’s developed so well so rapidly; the other clue is that Michael has at least three labs on other planets.
Here’s the transcript from the end of “Vengeance”:
“..SOME TIME LATER. Elizabeth walks out of the Gateroom, lost in unhappy thought. Teyla meets her and notices her expression.
TEYLA: Elizabeth?
WEIR: I just came from McKay’s lab. He’s been examining the research he was able to upload from Michael’s experiment.
TEYLA: Has he been able to determine just how many more of those creatures Michael was able to create?
WEIR: Well, not an exact figure, no, but Rodney believes it’s well into the hundreds.
(Teyla’s eyes widen.)
WEIR: Yeah. And it appears Michael has similar labs on at least three different planets.
(Teyla shakes her head in shock.)
TEYLA: It is amazing how quickly he has been able to incorporate our science into his….”

I believe that Carson is working under strict supervision at one of these labs. You see Michael in the preview and he looks more human in fact probably totally human ..this is due to Carson’s work. I guess Michael believes he is better off being totally human again seeing as in Vengeance he mentions that the Wraith never accepted him and ran him off.

When the episode that contained ‘clue’ was aired it was obvious what had happened to our boy.
It is good to see that he is not too traumatised by events and after a short holiday in Scotland he will be ready to go back to Atlantis in series. I hope!!

First of all i thought ist might be “normal” cliffhanger…not very special and it would be easy to wait until january… but now i have watched the trailer und listend to carsons voice and i cant wait!!!

I think Annie’s ideas on Michael as a link are pretty good. The other idea I had was to do with the ascension machine in Tao of Rodney. Since Carson used it to retrieve Rodney, it’s possible he ‘played’ with it later and copied his own genetic code into it.
Any thoughts? -

Took you guys long enough to come and get me WOW what a teaser. Nice to to see and hear Carson again can’t wait. Were we not told that its not a clone or any other kind of copy but the real Carson who would be back? How nice it’ll be to have him back.

We’re going to have an ‘I’m-not-dead-yet-Welcome-Back-Carson’ party on the 4th. I love the ‘What took you so long’, probably b/c he doesn’t know that he’s supposed to be exploded-ed. Brilliant! (I giggled so much b/c he’s so indignant). You’d think I’d be looking forward to Christmas, but my present is ‘Sins’ lol.

I jsut want to say that I think I’ve been right about how he’s coming back.
Take what they said about there being a hidden clue about how he’d come back(in the season 3 ep where they all get captured and fake out the replicators, Teyla gets zapped and Carson is then alone there).
Alright, go forward, they’ve said it’s the real Carson, not a clone or an alternate universe or whatever.
Now, season 4 has the human form’s duplicating Atlantis.
And according to the teasers, a replicator gets loose on earth.
Alright, this is my theory and has been for a long time now and the teasers seem to lend more credibility to it.
The human forms duplicated Carson and kept him to be studied and sent back their human form duplicate of him.
So the Human form Carson is who “died” in Sunday. But then it regenerated and got loose back on earth. Meanwhile, they’re just now finally rescuing the real Carson! Carson never died! WOO!

Sorry to spoil everyone’s happiness but there were endless ocasions when the producers said one thing oly for the story arc to turn out completely different…
I am really glad that Carson returns but let’s not overreact… We all are looking for that clue…
But judging from what season 4 has brought I’d say that the last thing that would happen is for the Assurans/Replicators/ whatever they’re called these days to be involved.
I mean look at the Replicator the team found on the Hive ship on Reunion… remeber how he acted once he escaped? I seriously doubt than under any circumstances would the Wraith ever work with the Assurans… any Wraith especcially Michael.
Yes he’s involved how… well I guess we all have to wait and see… -

I have to admit to being disapointed.
We were originally going to have five Carson Episodes this season, that’s dropped to one and a few seconds, similarly we were supposed to get some form of Weir next season, and that’s fallen through. The long-term arcs just aren’t playing out, and if we’re brutally honest about the only thing that’s kept season four going has been everyone waiting to see how they were going to return the “real” Carson, and they haven’t. We were promised the real Carson, and we’ve got a clone!
