Paul In Star Trek After All!

While Paul McGillion didn’t get the role of Scotty in the new Star Trek movie by JJ Abrams, word comes now that he did get a speaking part in the film as a different character.
From TrekMovie.com:
TrekMovie.com has learned that the McGillion impressed the film makers with his audition and they found a different role for the actor. No details yet on his role, except that it is a small speaking part.
McGillion has actually already finished shooting for the film, which took a few days back in November. It appears he will be in a scene with Chris Pine (Kirk).
This is great news, and no doubt the incredible outpouring of fan support for Paul to be in the movie had something to do with his casting. Well done, Paul and all his fans!

Im a little late on this fact but now I have a reason to go see this movie again ( was refusing due to the fact he was not Scotty) I like Simon Pegg but hes no Paul

I heard that the movie was supposed to be like a Pre-quel.. Like back when Kirk, Spock and everybody else was younger then they were in the TV Series. Perhaps they thought Paul was too old? I still would have LOVED It MUCH More to see Paul as Scotty! It would have added to my Excitement! I LOVE that the guy who plays Sylar on HEROES is playing Spock, and if Paul HAD Played Scotty I would have been jumping up and down.. Oh well.. I plan on seeing it at the movies anyway.. Can’t wait to see and/or hear Paul!

Paul’s only a year older than Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead), who got the role. Simon will make a good Scotty but really; what were they thinking not casting Paul in that role?
