Pipe Band Event Phenomenally Successful!

We’re ecstatic to announce that today’s Pipe Band “demonstration” outside of Bridge Studios in Burnaby, BC, was successful beyond our wildest dreams! In spite of pouring rain, the band played like the world-class musicians they are, 70 fans came out to the rally, more press showed up than we’d ever imagined, and we had Stargate Atlantis producers, writers, and actors in attendance!
Atlantis show-runner Joseph Mallozzi deserves special praise for being so cooperative and positive with the press, campaign organizers, and fans. Rather than any any sort of confrontation at all, the studio embraced the event in the spirit in which it was intended. Dressed in his signature 3-piece suit, in villainous black for the occasion, he came out to the public area and worked the crowd and press like a pro.
Martin Gero stepped out to film the event and interview attendees himself, apparently for a DVD special. We can only imagine the title of that one: “Stargate Fans and Other Really Frightening Species” perhaps?
The studio even provided SGA baseball caps, beanies, and much needed umbrellas to the crowd!
To the surprise and delight of fans, David Hewlett and Rachel Luttrell walked over to the fence and talked to fans from the other side. Jason Momoa took it a step further and joined the crowd and kindly posed for photos. We trust they enjoyed an unusual lunch break even for Stargate!
Perhaps most amazing was the press. Among organizations represented were:
- CBC News (All Canada)
- CBC Radio (All Canada)
- CityTV News (Vancouver)
- The Vancouver Sun
- The Province
- 24 Hours
- Georgia Straight
- United Press International (!)
- and more to be noted when we remember them all!
Now as great as that was, Joe issued an even greater challenge to all: if this campaign can manage to get itself mentioned on a nation US TV show, such as Entertainment Tonight, then he promises to bring back Carson Beckett for 2 episodes in the later half of Season 4! So you can bet we are not done fighting this fight. 
Many thanks to event organizers TJUK, Anise, and especially Jenner (Jennifer), who handled the press like the professional she is. Well done, ladies! And most of all, thanks to all the fans who contributed their ideas and funds to make this event happen!

Oh my gosh, I’m just grinning from ear to ear reading these reports and looking at the photos!! I’m toasting you all from sunny southern Cailifornia, but I’d happily have stood in the rain with you this afternoon.
I *adore* the “Save Carson” bum shot. You follks are awesome!!
And Mr Mallozzi, we are SO READY for this challenge! This has just been a warm-up … watch us now! WOO HOO!

Nice butts guys! Although mine looks MASSIVE (from Muffin) Was a fab event, such a great turnout and atmosphere. Really well organised guys so thumbs up to you! Looks like we will have to see about Mr Mallozzi’s challenge!

If I had known that super-hunk Mars was there I would have flown out just to see him.
Is he as good looking in real life as he is in his movie posters? I bet he is big and has loads of muscles. Nothing like a big mutt to keep you warm at night.
Looks like you all enjoyed yourselves – even if Joe dressed up like a gangster from a bad movie.

Too bad teleportation doesn’t exist….I am sure we would have been at least a thousand!! Congrats for the big success! Can’t wait to see Carson on those 2 episodes…cause we’ll make it happen!! we want him back for more than 2 episodes, but I guess it’s a good start!!

Yeah, I think Mr. Mallozzi has no idea of the storm of emails headed towards E!, etc. >) -sigh- Though the reason for killing of Carson was absolutely stupid, you have to admit that they really are getting free coverage. Like they say, “No press is bad press” ^^;

What a fabulous event you put together! Wish I didn’t live on the other side of the continent – man, would have loved to have been there and shown my support. And I’m sorry, but Mallozzi is a prize jerk for the whole “challenge” thing. Two lousy episodes? Like that’s what all of you are doing this for? Well, I’m sure everyone here will agree with me when I say two freakin’ episodes aren’t nearly enough! We want Carson back! We want him now! And we want him FOR GOOD! Yeah! You heard me, mister! Ok, I’m heading off to donate now…..

Is anyone going to post addresses/email for some of the show we should contact about Mr. Mallozzi’s challenge? I definitely want to write and/or email, but I don’t have the time to go searching for addrresses. I want to do my part to see things move forward. Two episodes isn’t enough, but it’s a very good start.
