Carson Fans Organize "Pipe Band Event"

Highland Celts of Canada

To celebrate Carson Beckett and to demonstrate our passion for restoring the character to Atlantis, we at SaveCarsonBeckett.com have organized a public event to take place outside Bridge Studios in Burnaby, BC, Canada, where Stargate Atlantis is filmed.

On Thursday, March 22nd from 12:30 – 2:00 pm, fans will gather to celebrate and hear the world-class Scottish Pipe Band, The Highland Celts of Canada. The group will play traditional pipe band tunes including “The Dark Isle,” the song played in the episode Sunday during Carson’s memorial. But don’t fret, there will be happier selections as well!

This event is being publicized now to the press in Canada, the US, and the UK. In fact, inquiries about it have already been made at the production offices, as indicated by Joe Mallozzi’s latest blog entry, a particularly hilarious one.

Neither fans nor “powers that be” should worry. Our event will be a legal, peaceful, positive demonstration of fans’ love for Carson and his importance to the show as the “Heart of Atlantis.” In fact we invite Joe and his colleagues to come say hello and enjoy the music along with fans.

If you’re going to be in Vancouver for the Stargate convention the following weekend, we invite you to make your way to Burnaby on Thursday the 22nd to show your support for Carson and for Paul and to enjoy a lovely concert as well. Polite, peaceful behavior will be insisted upon, of course. If you can’t be there, don’t worry, there will be ample video and photos published right here soon after the event.

  1. Nice idea. I wish you luck.

Mallozzi has missed his calling. He should’ve been a food critic or a chef. I’ve never found him to be funny.

  2. Too bad I can’t be there! I would have liked to join the cause personally. I can’t wait to see the pics and vids, though. And I am very interested in the reaction towards this event, especially by TPTB and the press.

  3. I’m planning on just driving up for the day – I live near Everett, WA (USA), so shoot me an e-mail (kjlysen(at)gmail(dot)com) if anyone wants to carpool! Save Carson and the environment! – kj

  4. I hope everybody enjoys the event. Pipe band music can sound like two tom cats fighting or it can sound emotional and inspiring.

Scotland the Brave, Caledonia or Flower of Scotland are the usual choices mentioned when we are deciding if we want a national anthem.

    Runrig music is great too.

All the best for the day.

  5. This band is really something else. They are amazing. Check out the link to their site in the blog, and have a listen.

  12. Wow sounds great – Wish I could be there!

On a related note did anyone think the way Joe Mallozzi has gone out of his way to give the event free publicity was a little odd? Seems like someone believes the old saying about any publicity being good publicity! (Not that I’m complaining mind)

  13. I was going to send Joe a Tartan CU Jimmy hat – but it would have taken too long to get to him. He seems like he has the sense of humour to actually wear it at the event.

  14. If I Had millions, a transporter, a gate or rings I’d be there. Sadly, however, the trip from Australia to Canada is out of reach. Have a lot of fun, make a wonderful impression and bring our heart back to Atlantis so I can start watching it again. Oh, and take lots of pics too 🙂

  15. I just love this idea and WISH UPON THE STARS I could be there. PLEASE take video and lots of pictures! I will be there in spirit, darnit!

    Love you Paul McGillion!

  16. Sadly I cannot attend from Europe either, but I hope you have fun! Sending my supportive power,

    Sander

  17. Damn you Texas and your far-away-ness! This would be a really good time for the Asgards to come along and share their transportation technology as well as a couple of their battleships for ferrying…-ha ha-

I will be there in spirit! -bursts out singing scottish drinking songs in the middle of class and gets a lot of weird stares-

  18. Awwwwwh! I loved Dr. Beckett!! I liked Lt Ford, too! Why are they always fixing things when they are not broken?
