If you’ve just found this site because you just saw the Altantis episode “Sunday” and were shocked by its outcome, then we welcome you and share your grief. Here are some quick facts for you which we hope will get you “up to speed” on where we are as a campaign to undo the unfortunate decision to kill Dr. Carson Beckett.
Sadly it’s true, Carson Beckett has been killed off of Atlantis and his actor Paul McGillion removed from the main cast. There are no definitive plans to bring him back in Season 4 or beyond, not even for one episode, much less permanently.
It was not Paul’s choice to leave. As described here, he was shocked and saddened to be told he was being let go in order to “shake things up” on Atlantis.
This campaign has been going since September, shortly after the rumors of Carson’s fate first began. We’ve truly made an impact, encouraging thousands of letters to be sent to the entities that make Atlantis. The campaign has been mentioned in sci fi publications and web sites, and a large number of letters relating to Carson’s demise have been printed in them. Paul McGillion has recognized and thanked fans for their outpouring of support for his character and career.
Here is a starting point for what we’re asking all fans of the character to do, to contribute to our efforts. We hope each and every visitor will be able to do at least one of these!
With your help, we do believe we can get this misguided creative decision reversed, for the good of the show as well as fans of Carson Beckett.
Just watched the SGA episode, Sunday. I didnt know Carson was being killed off, and I am gutted ! I’m a Scot and it was so cool having a Scottish Chacacter in a show like SGA. Paul McGillion is a good actor and when I read they were going to shake things up and kill him off I thought what a load of crap. The episode was rather boring in in the most part, and a little confusing with all the shifts in time, and can anyone tell me HOW they would get fresh sandwiches in a pack in the Pegasus galaxy ????!!! The saltire flag draped on his coffin was really touching at the end, along with the piper although Amazing Grace would have been a better tune (as they did in Star Trek). Dunno what the tune was they did play. Anyway, Paul, you are magic, man. Really enjoyed watching you, and please the heid honchos, think about getting him back - Daniel can come back cos he was missed, so can you !
With very best wishes from Edinburgh in Scotland.
ok, its hard to upset me, but this episode made me cry for gods sake, and im a guy.
Wow-I’m shocked and saddened by Carson’s death. I suppose we all grow so accustomed to our beloved characters that sometimes we take them for granted-Remember Doctor (Janet) Fraiser?
While I would rather he have stayed it does make a change for us to lose such an important member of the Atlantis team and reminds us that despite the teams apparent invincibility they are still just human.
I was shocked to find such a kind and gentle man was written out of the Atlantis series. There was always hope that Atlantis was not just an all-American affair and was proud of Paul’s representation of an accomplished Scots professional at ease within the far realms of human imagination.
Bring him back. Paul’s Carson is and will always be core to Atlantis and meddling with a core cast member is annoying and upsetting as an Atlantis fan.
They have a habit of killing off Doctors in the SG world. This time it was a big mistake. I could understand if the script had the required gravitas but exploding tumours from unusual radiation!!! Don’t they have any science advisors to help the script writers out? I hope Paul McGillion goes on to greater things and more challenging roles.
What a waste of a great character. If changes keep coming not sure if I want to watch any more. Its the familar characters and thier growning personalities that make vewing worth while.
O My God
I cant believe it he was so cool
Bring him back seriously it dosent matter how cheesily they do it they could…er…go to a paralel universe and find and take him i wouldnt mind as long as they brought him back
I was so shocked how bad that hit me i was in tears at the ending and the tributes on youtube make me cry again
There should be a health warning to these kind of episodes. I must admit I wasn’t wastching too closely as my son wanted a story read by suddenly I looked up as saw Carson getting blown up.
I come from Paisley as well so it was quite upsetting. I hated when Janet Frasier got killed off but this was so wrong!
All I can say is that people behind the scenes should do some research before they make such stupid decisions. I’m sure had they bothered to listen to fans, they would have found that Carson is one of the most popular characters in the series. Personally, I would have put him just after McKay. I was just thinking what a relatively poor episode Sunday was and then they go and kill off Beckett. I immediately thought, “Nice one Paul McGillion! Why’d you want to leave Atlantis?” I went straight to the Internet to find out his reasons for leaving and I find this! I’m in a bad mood now!
‘The Dark Island’ is the name of the tune played on the bagpipes.
Such a shame to see a lovely character like Beckett killed off. They should have just got rid of Tayla or better still Elizabeth.
I didn’t like the way they made it all soppy with McKay pretending he was his best friend.
That relationship was never explored previuosly and it all seemed very ‘rushed’ and insincere.
Best wishes to Paul Mcgillon, but here’s hoping they do bring him back. He is a far more likeable character than some of the others.
After all they have killed Daniel Jackson off about 24 times and he’s still going.
Robbie - Dublin, Ireland
ok just watched ’sunday’ n for the 21st time in years i cryed. (dam you i hate crying espeshaly in front of the lads)
the one Q. burning on my mind is WHY????
i dont blame them for killin off fords character but why loveable beckett what did he do except save taler, rodney, shepped, ronan, wier… etc. This is the 2nd time theyve killed off a SG medic but why carson plez plez find away to bring him back, as a guy cant belive im sayin this but even i found Paul Mcgillon’s role love able if they dont bring him back he will be gratly missed.
It was so good to see a Scotsman played by a Scotsman in a American TV series ( ok I’m Scottish too) and it was damn shame to write this excellent character out of the series.
To be honest this has just put me off the programme when they kill off a great character.
It won’t be the same without Paul - I’d love to see if they could bring him back but I can’t see how.
Great to see he’s got such loyal fans though - all the best Paul on your next endevour.
Shame to see him go
hope they do revive the character at some point. Oh and the pipes song is you take the high road also known as the bonnie bonnie banks of loch lomond
I have just seen the episode Sunday and thought it was slow till the last 15 minutes and it broke my heart I cried like a baby (and am still crying as I type this) being a guy it’s rare for me to show such emotion in front of my family but I could not help it and wept openly at the passing of such a great and strong person, In truth I hope they bring him back it wont be the same without him, I understand the shock value of it all for great ratings but bringing him back would boost the show even further I am not the only one who feels this, and a true Scotish guy playing the part made it more real, I am disheartened that he was killed off the Scots are a great race of people warm, caring, strong and resiliant . we realy need him back
I’m banking on it that the producers actually have some sort of ‘bring him back’ plan. I think they’re nicer than they let on. The way Joe Mally’s talking on his blog, I’m pretty sure they have something planned for our good buddy Carson. But he just doesn’t want the fans to get all whiny about it in the meanwhile. They probably needed the emotional impact of everyone thinking that Carson was really dead for whatever they have planned for him to work.
LISTEN YOU DAMN WRITERS!!!!! You’d better fix this thing up! How could you do something like this???!!!! There is no sense in killing such a great character. Did you want to make us cry???!!!! OK…. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Now FIX IT!!!!. Have McKay “accidentally” find a “disposable time machine” in one of atlantis’s labs and in a very good episode (you know full of suspense and action) make him destroy this DAMN TUMOR CREATING MACHINE 10 thousand years before they find it (arround the time Elizabeth arrived in that season 1 episode where she traveled back in time and stayed in atlantis to make sure it didn’t flood) Maybe McKay could interact with that elizabeth or…. WELL… WHATEVER!!!!!! FIIIIIIXXXXX IIIIIIIITTTTTT!!!! SAVE CARSON BECKET!!!!!
It is no use just to cry. No use of emotions here. Albert, go to Vancouver, find this MollyBolly-Guy (Mallozzi) and yell your message him. I understand your feelings, damn I was crying when I was watching this episode (Sunday). Me 24 year-old guy. Whom do you think I was feeling myself… Still, after a couple of weeks, I can’t forget about this. I can’t even “order” myself to watch 3 last episodes. I don’t know why. Maybe because it lost some part of this “movie-magic”. Realism is good, but I don’t like some kind of a “Reality-TV” realism, In a deep part of my soul I’m still a 5-years old boy with widely-opened eyes, with a huge desire of magic.
I totally cannot believe what I just saw. To say that I am shocked would be an understatement. Carson dead??? Are they insane? He was such an excellent character. Sweet and light-hearted. I think they’ve made a terrible mistake. Good luck to the person trying to fill his shoes. Paul, I wish you all the best for the future.
I saw the episode last night and I have just found your website. I had absolutely no idea that Carson was going from the series. An absolutely stupid move by the Producers of Atlantis. He was a wonderful character and the dynamics between all of the leads - especially Mckay - was superb. Carson’s demise is not only a waste of a marvellous character and potential storylines - it is a waste of a talented actor. I wish Paul every success in all his future projects.
/cry /mourn are only a few things I did. I cannot believe it, I hate looking things up on the internet due to spoilers etc so last night was the biggest shock ever. Both me and my wife were in tears.
He is the best thing atlanits has to offer and they took it away. I can see that this might even lead to the end of Atlantis as we know it.
Come back Carson!
Still in shock from last night - a program like Atlantis is not the place for gritty realism! Carson made the perfect foil to the gungho attitudes of other characters and with his sensible carinig attitudes gave us something to feel in touch with.
I thought it was particularly shocking the way they engineered the episode by having him so chirpy and happy earlier in the day, whereas he usually has to act more worried and serious.
Carson has been my favourite character for a while now, and I feel a great distrust of the show now that they have caused his demise. Who will be next? Do those that make these decisions realise just how much impact a fictional character can have upon the lives of us mortals? Reaching for more tissues, I hope that Paul finds another role soon to express his many talents.
I really liked Carson. I’ve been a big fan of SG-1 since it started. I’ve found it more difficult to get on board with Atlantis but Beckett was one of the few characters I took to straight away. there are far too many weak characters in Atlantis and the show will be the poorer for loosing Carson Beckett.
I saw ‘Sunday’ last night and although a friend of mine had told me something was happening with Carson this season, I couldn’t believe what I was watching. I’ll admit, I cried! I know it’s only a TV show but Carson was one of my favourite characters and I felt that was worth crying over!! With Daniel, they left it open and I kind of knew he’d come back; they also left Ford’s demise ‘open’, but they’ve left no such option for Carson. I am lost for words! All that’s left to say is that I whole-heartedly agree with Suzanne. [An absolutely stupid move by the Producers of Atlantis. He was a wonderful character and the dynamics between all of the leads - especially Mckay - was superb. Carson’s demise is not only a waste of a marvellous character and potential storylines - it is a waste of a talented actor.]
Good luck for the future Paul. x
You are all so brave. From the moment I got confirmation that Carson would be killed I ceased to watch Stargate Atlantis and cleared out everybit of Atlantis merchandise I owned (small and petty revenge), I so feel for all of you who hadn’t heard and went into ‘Sunday’ not knowing. I don’t think TPTB give a damn about us really, but I like to believe that the louder the noise we make, the more chance we have of saving Carson and Atlantis (because at this point in time I belive it is doomed). Rodney was my second favourite character and even though I’ll never watch again I’m concerned that Carters presence will make him into a joke (who’s the smartest now?). They don’t care about the fans, they don’t care about the characters, they certainly don’t care about the actors, all they care about is the money. I hope they lose so much of it they choke - I’m bitter and betrayed.
It was a bad move get rid of Carson, What did he do nowt just saved lifes. Iv been a big fan of SG1 and SGA never missed a show but i dont think there is any point of watching it any more. I make sure that i have my days off when SG1 and SGA is on so that i can watch it but never mind i will just work. WHAT U NEED TO DO IS BRING HIM BACK !!!!!!. Any way good luck Paul and hope to see you in soming else your a fab actor even tho your scotish lol joking good luck anyway
Absolutely gutted that Carson has been killed off. Not sure what planet the writers are on! Carson was a brilliant character, the banter between Carson and Mckay was superb. Please bring Carson back like you did Daniel in SG1.
Well, what can i say, I wasn’t expecting that! - I am greatly saddened by the loss of Carson - good luck to Paul for the future. And good luck to the group in getting him back in StargateA.
I totally agree - Carson was the best character, and I’m not sure I’ll bother with Atlantis anymore because I just don’t care about any of the characters like I did him. He was warm, funny and very human. Just for a change they made a British character real instead of some kind of caricature for people to mock. Then they go kill him off for absolutely no good reason. If it was just for shock value, maybe they should look again at how best to attract viewers. Strong characters and strong stories is what keeps an audience interested, not cheap tricks like this. Still, at least when they cancel all the Stargate series, I won’t mourn that much.
Watched the episode last night, and thought it a shame (and a shock) that Carson was killed off. Brought a lump to my throat when the piper started up and the coffin was taken through the stargate…. even though I know its only a TV program!
I liked Carson as a character, and the dynamics between that charecter and the others in the show was interesting.
Anyway, good luck Paul, and thankyou for sharing your talent with us all!
I just watched this episode in disbelief! I am a big SG Atlantis fan and have never missed an episode. I had no idea what would happen. I am absolutely gutted. Casrson and Rodney are my favourite characters. I am 41 and cried like a baby!
This has spoilt the show in my view.
Absolutely Gutted! I could not believe that Carson had just been killed off!!!
This show was truly great. Like Star Trek the diverse nationalities made it human and real.
I am a 41 year old bloke and cried like a kid! I don’t ever remember being this upset since watching a Lassie film as a Kid!!!!
The SG Atlantis universe has lost a great character!

This is a big mistake - Beckett is so much of the heart of Atlantis, he works perfectly against McKay!
Please, please… bring him back! ![]()
I watched it too. I was with my big brother and it was a real sadness to see Carson die. At the time McKay is bidding his last farewell to Carson we both shared tears at the time becouse it was too much for us to handle the fact that we won´t see Paul McGillion again for the next season. We will neve forget HIM! Cason Beckett will live forever in our hearts! In the name of all SGA fans in Brazil…
BRING CARSON BECKETT BACK!!!!!!!
Eric Augusto SP, Brazil
I looked over at my wife with disbelief telling her to say that I didn’t see what I just saw.
I yelled at the tv to have carson start banging on the coffin… miracle healing radiation
I feel betrayed.
Two girls (even if somewaht attactive, but deffinately not hot) does make up for one Carson Beckett.
I am shocked and appalled that they killed of Dr. Beckett. A terrible, terrible mistake.

All of Scotland is in mourning.
Carson Beckett, we are proud of you and we want you back. You were a credit to your nation: a consummate professional as a dotor and a scientist. For centuries Scots have been at the forefront of mankind’s exploration and it was encouraging to know that as we expand our quest for knowledge into far galaxies, Scots still have a unique contribution to make.
You were brave without being reckless, intelligent without being arrogant and compassionate without being soft. Young Scots have lost their hero and their role model - a part of us died with you, Carson Beckett.
And so this soldier, this Scottish soldier
Will wander far no more and soldier far no more
And on a hillside, a Scottish hillside
You’ll see a piper play his soldier home.
He’d seen the glory, he’d told his story
Of battles glorious and deeds victorious
The bugles cease now, he is at peace now
Far from those green hills of Tyrol.
In any other kind of TV series, death would be the end. In Sci-Fi we all know that doesn’t have to be the case. We pray that the producers of Atlantis would have the guts and humility to bring Carson back.
Woz, Unversity of St. Andrews, Scotland
No, no, no! They can’t do this.
Carson’s the most real, human, touchy-feely person in Atlantis. Everyone else has got ‘issues’ but Carson keeps everything grounded. Paul’s a fantastic actor and always captures the emotion of the scene.
Carson is the only person Rodney gives any respect to and the inter-play between them creates some of the funniest moments.
I don’t think I can watch SGA without him. Bring him back!
We’ll keep fighting , Paul.
Lots of love, Donna
this episode “sunday” was confusing with the time thingy but damn that made me cry like baby for days. damn kill an american for once please! they all ways had to kill some why is it evryone who is either a doctor, scottish,or English its too american now! make McKay go back in time and fix it or something.
![]()
johnny boy
why kill the best person on the SG-A team its always the doctor, scottsman or englishman never an american plaese send someone back in time (Wier did it) and save carson please! because he’s great and they can kill ronan or someone less loveable, it makes me cry and it still does!
good luck paul.
DO IT from johnny boy(mourning) England
killing him was BOLLOCKS
when i said (mourning) it isn’t a place in real England its what im doing
This is just another thing in a string that has turned me away from SGA. Not only are they killing off one of the best characters but they’re ripping off their own scripts and for what? Originality? No fear! They’re just a bunch of writers who have run out of steam, most of us have watched SG1 so we dont need it repackaged and given back! And has anyone noticed the only characters they kill off are either from Britain or a non caucasion ethnicity? And not just on this show! Maybe an american thing….
I don’t know what to say…just seen the episode… and I just couldn’t stop crying! They really had to take Beckett?! He was the cutest person in there, he was the only one to temper Rodney! the character was great as well as the actor. So for this…one point minus for the SGA directors. Bad decizion, I say!
OK, I cried. Carson was lovely and British. Many have said that it was wonderful to have a real British character who wasn’t even a villain! I agree! Sci-fi-land can do anything they want - so bringing him back should be easy! I don’t think I can stomach Carter’s arrival - Rodney is already a comic character, but now he’ll just be a laghing stock. I didn’t watch SG-1, but it hasn’t really mattered till now - why not just allow SGA to live its own life? Bring Carson Beckett back NOW!
My wife and I saw the show last night and I too cried like a baby. Just can’t believe they killed him off. Definitely didn’t see that coming. Why would they do such a thing? I agree, they need to go back in time, somehow, and bring him back. If they don’t, I’m afraid I might have to stop watching the show. IDIOTS!!!

DISBELIEF !!! I was stunned !!! I couldn’t see the point ! I’m a 44 yr old bloke & I cried!! I’m crying as I write this. All the best Sci-fi has humour. Babylon 5 went down the toilet when they wrote Ivanova out & Garibaldi got depression & lost his wit & Humour. Spock/McCoy, Londo/Garibaldi, G’Kar/Londo, Picard/Worf, Worf/Quark, Odo/Quark. It’s these humourous relationships that make Sci-fi human & real. We don’t need pure drama, THAT’S WHAT A DRAMA IS FOR. The best sci-fi always has humour and Beckett always provided with a human, “weak” warmth against Rodney’s arrogance, and Shepherd’s (more able) sarcasm. I can’t get across at how angry this has made me. Daniel’s death was more annoying than losing O’Neill, because we liked him more than Jack due to his weaknesses. It’s the same with Beckett. Clone him, Alternate Reality-him, time-fix this, but bring him back. We watch Sci-fi because the characters are so likeable and have elements of us in them, not for the Tech. I would be in the pub with Carson Beckett if he was real. BRING HIM BACK. (all the girls writing in, stop accepting his demise, please all say NO, like all us guys are).
im not gonna whatch the SGA series again till carson comes back or they all die and the english run it (hehe) or something crazy like that cos its not gonna be the same
english Johnny
after watching SGA to see Carson killed off I couldn’t believe how stupid the writers could be, I have a good saying which applies to life and everything that happens in this world IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT THEREFORE LEAVE WELL ALONE. so writers if you have writers block with Carsons dilemma why not have the asgard loki have Carsons dna and clone him and put right your mistake
Ian from Bath
Reading the previous comments it was good to see such passionate reaction to the loss of Dr Becket. Like many watching what apeared to be a very dull episode, I was in a state of shock when he so suddenly died. In this respect I think the producers and writers did a good job, this did not make for mundane viewing. I also thought Carsons death was most honourable, in that he put his patient and staff before himself. Let him rest in peace, he will be long remembered.
I love atlantis and i’m part scottish so carson was always my favorite character. He was so funny and kind hearted. I know it’s just a programme but i cried for over an hour after the it ended. They should bring him back, it’s not the same without him. Paul is such an amazing actor.
They could say that Carson ascended or something coz of how much good he did whilst alive, being a doctor n all. I don’t care how they do it, they’ve just gotta bring him back!
I just wanna say i totally agree with what Alex said:
It’s these humourous relationships that make Sci-fi human & real. We don’t need pure drama, THAT’S WHAT A DRAMA IS FOR. The best sci-fi always has humour and Beckett always provided with a human, “weak†warmth against Rodney’s arrogance, and Shepherd’s (more able) sarcasm. Please bring him back!!
I have been looking to see why Paul would want to leave and like evryone else was amazed to see it was not his choice. Dr Beckett was a great character and represented a truly idealistic and humane member of the team. His moral compass helped direct the others.
Can’t believe he is gone!
one can only marvel, at the stupidity of the narrow minded shot callers. this travesty is another example of people without a clue blundering in, probably never having watched the show or talking with anyone who does. and then carving away at what they think is a good call.
Removing Carson from SGA is like cutting a peice out of the mona lisa. could these people be the same ones who killed off star trek. shame on you.
Bring Back Carson Beckett
Sack these hacks and get somone who knows what thier doing
Ok, I did not see this one coming. I had not heard about the episode yet, but I’m already angry. How can they do this? The character was first meant as a recurring role until the fans made it possible to make it a regular one……this implies that Carson Beckett is a very much loved character (O, stupid writers). I also thought that Paul McGillion had signed a contract for a longer period then 4 years, so I really don’t understand it. I also understand that nothing I alone can say or do will bring the personage back, so I can only hope that everybody that disagrees with this stupid decision is going to react and that this will lead to a ‘miracle’ return………If not well I personally will not watch the show any longer ( because seriously, writing Carson out of the show but getting a SG1 member on board???? come on it’s a different show not a copy)
noo! bring carson bak now he’s gone im losing the plot.
Carson Beckett was my favorate character (along with McKay) and I loved him to bits because he was always so nice. He was the only main character that was not american and he was never nasty to anyone. I had a nasty feeling he was going to die and when he did I was devastated. I cried for ages. Please can someone put a petition on the internet as I do not know how. I am going to make a non-virtual one, and for any-one who lives in and around tipton i will try to put it in public libraries etc. No promises.
The lucky thing is, Carson was so nice he could have assended, like Daniel.
Good luck to everyone in their efforts.
=’
Why in bloody hell would you kill off Carson Beckett? Carson was the only character, in the entire show, that a normal person could actually relate to. He seemed like someone you could actually meet in real life. He was able to counterbalance the boring SG template characters who have no fear, a stunning wit, are immune to the laws of physics, and whose theatrics never seems to result in their demise.
Do the right thing and bring Carson back on the show. There are a million different ways it can be done. If you can think of an exploding tumor you can think of a rational way to bring Carson back from the dead. Speaking for myself, I’ve lost interest in the show. He was and remains the best character to come out of the series. Even dead, he is more human than any of the other (living) SG-Atlantis cast.
If you think it’s time for someone to die, kill someone that needs to be killed! Take Ronan for example. He’s a bad combination of Rambo and a hippie doesn’t believe in personal higene. I could understand it while he was a runner but that time has long since passed… He needs to take a bath, wear an SG uniform, and get a haircut.
Even if you’re determined to kill Carson, why would you do it in such an absurd, stupid, and ultimately pointless fashion? In heavens name, the man went on missions, through the Stargate, in a galaxy swarming with wraith, and the producers choose to kill him off while removing an exploding tumor that was caused by momentary exposure to an experimental form of radiation! Did someone actually get paid for writing that nonsense?
The SG-Atlantis team is supposed to be engaged in a life and death struggle with the wraith. If the show needs to be shaken up it’s because that simple truth has been forgotten. When was the last time the wraith attacked Atlantis? How many SG-Atlantis cast members have been actually been killed by the wraith? The only name that I can think of is Colonel Sumner and he died at the start of the first season! The audience is supposed to fear and hate the wraith but, despite their numbers, the wraith never seem to get around to killing anyone the audience has come to know and care for.
If the producers really wanted to kill Carson they should have done themselves a favor and let the wraith do it for them. That, at least, would have served to demonize the Wraith. Hell, the terrorists in Iraq have better luck killing US soldiers than the Wraith do. Am I the only one that sees a problem with this?
So they killed off an awesome character and made it seem like it could have been prevented by, oh you know.. half the cast.
This is scifi, bring him back, you jerks.
i saw the episode sunday on sky one and like many off u here i actually cried . it was such a sad character for wat many of us considered 2 be one of the best in SGA . this site is amazing and we need 2 get him bac in the show yesterfay lol !!!! anywaz i thought id make i site up on bebo it might help a lil as well go 2 http://savecarsonbeckett.bebo.com and cum b a groupie … together we will hav him bac
I agree with Johns comment about the wraith losing their scariness (although I wouldnt have wanted to see carson killled by one,Id rather he wasnt dead at all!). When the series first started the teams from atlantis were always bumping into wraith wherever they went, now we hardly hear about them! I know they are supposed to think atlantis has been destroyed but surely they wouldnt have stopped culling planets-in fact they should be more active now theyre not wasting time flying to atlantis! When I first watched the programme I was genuinly scared when the wraith put in an appearance but now they dont seem that invincible-even Rodney doesnt seem that scared of them anymore! Mind you its probably a good thing now they dont have the best doctor in two galaxies to patch em up!! I say bring back the scary wraith and BRING BACK CARSON!!!!!!!!!
The new eposides of Atlantis will show here in the USA in April. After reading the emails that have been left I doubt I will watch that eposide or any of them from now on. I agree completely with all of you about Mr. McGillion’s Dr. Beckett. He is the heart of this show. I am proud to say I am of Scottish descent. Also after meeting Mr. McGillion at a Convention I fell more in love with a Grand Scotsman. He was a warm and loving person who embraced the fans. This I believe is the downfall of Atlantis.
What is there to say ….Bring him back!!!!
I feel like I have just lost a friend.
I have been a fan of the Stargate Universe since the movie & have seen characters come and go, but Dr. Carson Beckett was different. He was not your cardboard cut out scifi character, but one that writers love to rap their brains around. He had personality.
So what makes me wonder is what will SciFi channel/MGM do the next time they need to “shake things up”. There is nothing worse than cut & run writing in place of creative characters. And the show will pay for it in the end.
But don’t give up, remember Daniel Jackson.
Sometimes they do listen.
And mostly, Thank you Paul !!!
Yeah, it really is sad to no longer have Carson on the series. I could have swore I heard something about him wanting more money for his role, and them denying it.. and that being a reason for him being written off. Even if that was true, it’s still a pisser to not have him on the show. I’m sure that was probably just nothing more than rumor.
I tell ya.. one thing that you do NOT want to be is a doctor on any Stargate related show. That’s a death sentance.
Seriously though.. Jewel Staite as the replacement? Sorry Carson ol’pal, but I’m not so saddened any more ![]()
I was sick inside when Carson died in SGA Sunday. A big part of enjoying the show was him bantering Rodney. I do not understand why they would cut off their right leg for no reason what-so-ever. All cast play an excellent part in the T.V show But Carson gave it that extra carisma and class I so enjoyed in the show. It also was so strange and out of charector for him to carry the bomb to the bomb squad. He was always safety first and then to go and carry a bomb for no good reason in an abandoned part of the city. It is crushing to not have him there on the show. It will not be the same without him, no matter what they do. The show definately gave up one of their best. I hope they bring him back the way Daniel Jackson was brought back, but this time with a little more insight. I know it sounds crazy but I feel I have lost a brother. Crazy. Take care and God Bless.
Just watched the episode “Sunday” and I am so ANGRY!!! Why would they kill one of the best characters? Are the writers Insane? They just killed the whole show for me! ARGGGG Im sorry….this made me so pissed off. They better do a time travel episode where they bring him back or something!!!
Like many of you, I only found this website when I watched the episode where Dr. Beckett was killed. I worried he must be sick, dying (in real life) and was frantically trying to find out what horrible disease had befallen him. I am relieved to learn that isn’t the case, but am now confused, upset, and frankly, ticked off that they would kill off his character. It wasn’t even done well or interestingly.
I kept waiting, as another person wrote, for there to be some twist in the plot, that he wasn’t really dead….it was someone else.
I only started watching the show because of “Rodney McKay” and then grew fond of several characters. Dr. Beckett was definitely one I am very fond of. If he had been killed off for a reason (he was ill in real life, he wanted to leave, etc.), then it would be sad but we could accept it, but for no reason? Ridiculous. I was devastated when Dr. Janet was killed on Stargate and now this? I guess kind, sincere doctors on these shows should be leery.
Sure hope they come up with a way of bringing Dr. Beckett back.
