Let’s Get Paul Cast as Young Scotty!

Paramount is casting the roles for the upcoming Star Trek movie set in the early days of Kirk’s USS Enterprise. We think Paul McGillion would make a fine Young Scotty. He’s got the heritage, the accent, and the acting ability to make “She’s givin’ ya’ all she’s got, Cap’n,” a truly believable line. 
Check out casting rumors here at Cinematical.com. James Doohan’s son Chris is angling for the part as well, which of course we respect, but Paul would be a wonderful choice!

Not to be negative, but isn’t Paul a little old to be playing a “young” Scotty? Are they really looking at people in their late 30′s? (Same reason I don’t like the Matt Damon as Kirk rumors.) I thought this was supposed to be academy-or-so era. Other than that, though, yeah, I think he’d be great!

Remember that in ToS, Scotty was about 5-10 years older than the rest of the cast. Paul IS in his late 30s, soooooo… i guess if you are looking at casting the rest at about mid-late 30s, he might eve be a little young!

Please excuse last post – totally misread! Anyway, the movie is apparently post-academy, which would make Paul a decent enough age!

The article I read said looking for a 30-something to play Scotty, so Paul is perfect for the role! The crew of the Enterprise weren’t all together before Kirk got his command so unless they intend to screw with cannon (which I really hope not) it can’t before they all served aboard the same ship. Besides, CAPTAIN Kirk and the ENTERPRISE are what the original Trek was all about!!! And of course, the gruff but lovable Scotty…

OMG! Can you imagine? Paul plays Scotty and then we have the Trek fans joining our crusade! Yes!
Maybe they’d even start watching SGA if they don’t already.

Hey, then he actually would be in a red shirt. Given that doctors on SG might as well be red shirts.

Brilliant idea! Paul as Scotty. Plus, Star Trek characters tend to live longer as the Stargate ones*g*.
My Trekkie heart would be delighted if he would get the role.
