Save a Turtle for Carson

Sea TurtleIf you’ve seen Season 3’s “The Return Part 1,” you know that Carson Beckett bought some ‘wee baby turtles’ while he was on Earth. He was very sad to leave them behind when he returned with the others to Pegasus. In honor of Carson, part of our campaign drive is to save real turtles in Carson’s name, and to let TPTB know we did so!

Interested fans can ‘adopt’ an endangered turtle from one of these animal charities:

http://www.wwf.org/ (choose your country to see if saving turtles is one of the options)

Many of the organizations will send you a stuffed turtle plushie as a thank you for your donation. You can then send the plushie to Bridge Studios to let them know you saved a turtle in Carson’s name, and that you want TPTB of Stargate to save Carson in turn!

We hope you’ll consider this idea, which benefits endangered turtles as well as our campaign efforts. :)

    I adopted a turtle and named him Carson. :D

    Thanks for putting up all the links! I chose http://www.cccturtle.org/ because they let you name the turtle … but the least expensive one that includes a plush toy is the first link. http://www.adoptwildlife.org/adopt_turtle.htm

    I can’t wait to get my little plushy guy and send him off to Bridge!

    It’s a real good idea but I have too much pets in my house. However I want to save Carson ( and his tortles of course )

    Oh, just to let you know, you don’t get a real turtle. Your money goes to save one in the wild. You just get a stuffed one that requires no care or feeding. :)

    Speaking as someone in the zoo industry, I think this is absolutely one of the coolest ideas ever thought up - a wonderful way to tie in a popular character moment to a great cause! :)

    Glad you like the idea, Kristen. The original idea was also to attach a little note to it asking TPTB to then give it to kids in hospital, like the Stuffy Guard Project do. I know that adding this too to the post might have been confusing, but… that’s the idea how it first came to me, for you! *LOL*

    Does anyone know how reliable these organizations are. I mean, this is a perfect idea and I am very interested to adopt a sea turtle (which, I wouldn´t have even probably considered without this whole Save Carson Beckett thing, so thank you). But I live in Finland and unfortunately our WWF doeasn´t have saving turtles as an option. I wanna be sure my money goes to the right place.
