Paul McGillion attended the Wolf SG-11 Stargate Convention in London this weekend (November 11-12).
Several fans have reported that when asked if his character was being written out or whether he would be back in Season 4, he said he wasn’t allowed to talk about that until the Season 3 episodes air, but that the powers that be do listen to the fans. He also expressed his gratitude to all the fans who love Carson and are worried about his fate.
We take this to mean Paul appreciates what we’re doing as far as showing support for Beckett, and that we should continue to encourage fans to write and post expressions of their support. So please do take a moment to do that!

Paul was fantastic at SG11! He seems like an incredibly nice man, and I hope I get to see him at another con soon. I can’t imagine SGA without Carson…I hope they’re not doing anything stupid.

Paul, is truely wonderful. And his character is wonderful.
If they pull the plug on Carson it’s like pulling the plug on “wonderfulness”. -

I will be quite upset if they write Carson out, the character brings a lot of emotional depth and dimension to the show, and presents great ethical dilemmas. Not to mention, he plays off McKay so well, I can’t see Rodney functioning as well without him as the other best friend

There is no way I will watch Atlantis if they kill off Carson Beckett!! I don’t mind as much if characters I like leave shows and are written out some other way (job transfer, or whatever), but if they die I am outta there! This is a pervasive theme on TV shows these days, killing off beloved characters, and I think it’s cheap, unoriginal (after all, everyone’s doing it) and a slap in the face to the fans. PLEASE keep Paul on Atlantis, or at least don’t kill his character, so I can keep on watching one of my favorite shows!

THEY SHOULDN’T TAKE PAUL OFF THE SHOW,THAT WOULD BE LIKE TAKING “BONES” OFF THE OLD STAR TREK SERIES. KIRK WOULD NEVER HAVE ALLOWED THAT. CARSON IS SO MUCH LIKE THE ” BONES ” OF STAR TREK, JUST HAS A SCOTTISH ACCENT INSTEAD OF A SOUTHERN ONE.
” KEEP CARSON ON THE SHOW” . I T JUST WOULD NOT BE THE SAME WITH OUT HIM.

Hi! I just found out about this and it’s sooooo distressing! I can’t imagine ATLANTIS without Carson! Why else did they add him to the opening credits just to get rid of him later! Makes NO sense to me! Carson (and Paul) added soooo much more to the show!
Don’t think I could bring myself to watch any more if they get rid of him! Without Carson there would BE no Atlantis expedition since he was the one who discovered the ATA gene!
I agree that it’s a cheap way to get rid of someone aaaand I have yet to hear WHY they want to get rid of him! CArson Beckett is as important to the show as John Sheppard or Rodney McKay! Who else can save the medical day if not Carson?
YES I started out watching because of John Sheppard but Carson won my heart! Without him I just can’t watch any more! Same as when they killed off Lt. Colonel Paul Ironhorse on WAR OF THE WORLDS second season. I NEVER watched agaiin!

There is no way they can make the show function without Carson in it. For one thing, Rodney would go completely batty. For another, Carson is really the only one still concerned with the Ethics of what they are doing in the Pegasus Galaxy. He gives the show the moral and ethical grounding that they need to have, especially given the way things seem to be progressing. We need MORE of Carson, not LESS!

Oh he’s such a sweetheart. I had the chance to meet him last year in France on a convention. I started watching the show because of him and I won’t be able to watch the fourth season if he’s not coming back!

Im gutted! He is such an absolutely smashin guy and that reflets in the part he plays. The PTB must be offthere rockers, complete muppets!
I adore this show. They are a team, more like a family reallly and to get rid of Carson is like removing an arm or a leg. No one can replace him.
I have made a friend in Arkansaw who writes fanfic called Jana (Titan5) and she like me is furious.
Please please dont get rid of him.

“…..no more drama…” Beckett’s character should stay… PERIOD! I was looking forward to his character having the first stable relationship between SG-1 and SG-A, since Jackson’s/Sha’ra. Wait! That didn’t work out. Sam…. no….

I can’t believe you are doing it again. It didn’t work for you the first time with Sg1. Don’t make the same mistake again.
